As a person who has had experience in skin consulting and in make-up artistry, I truly enjoy offering advice to women about skincare and beauty products. Women have it rough in this world, we should be able to share and educate one another to promote unity and also empower ourselves to take care of ourselves, and each other. After all, that's my philosophy behind Take Care Always.
My California counterpart, the lovely Khiamma of CovetedEclectic and I have been creatively discussing on what direction we wanted to take for our posts. Her and I both were really open to trying new things and wanting to step out of our elements. We decided that we would be doing collaborations/tags with each other. We thought it'd be cool to share our different lifestyles through posts. You'll get a look on her California style and taste, while you get a version of my Canadian West side of things.
These are some of my current favourite things (we spell favourite with a "u" over here in Canada hehe)
E.L.F Cosmetics bronzer in Golden
This bronzer has been a pretty key element in my routine lately. It adds a nice soft bronze glow to the complexion. Blending this is super easy on the face too. The bronzer is split into quadrants, and these quadrants can double has highlighters! Versatility is always welcomed. I usually apply this with a large stippling brush and focus on my temples, forehead, and just under the cheekbones. It's perfect for lazy days when I just need a little "oomph" before I head out.
Too Cool For School's Egg Mousse Pack
I have been using this foaming mask weekly, and love what is has done for my skin. This mask's main focus is the use of egg whites and egg yolk extracts to help skin radiate, soften, and draws out impurities. This mask is pretty fun to use, as funny as that sounds. It comes out as a mousse, and after applying it to your face, the mousse begins to dissipate (that's the right verb right? haha) and just rinse off after 10-15 minutes. My face feels refreshed, clean, even, and super soft. Yay!
L'Oreal Infallible Pro-Glow Foundation - Nude Beige 203
Living in Calgary, if a product boasts about "glowing skin", I am sooooold. I live in a dry climate, and I'll take anything that continues to hydrate and make my skin radiate. The formula was easy to blend with a beauty sponge, and it matched my skin. Finding a drugstore foundation for yellow undertones can be a challenge, and I was happily surprised by this product. I noticed that my skin had a healthy, yet very subtle dewy look. It lasts all day, and did not dry out my skin. I hardly ever need to touch-up my face.
Colourpop x Jenn Im - Jenn Ne Sais Quoi - Ultra Matte Liquid Lipstick and Pencil in Dohee
Summer is over, but I say there's nothing wrong with wanting to wear a bright lip. I always wanted to add a coral peach color to my giant lipstick collection, but never found one that I felt suited me. When I saw that Jenn Im did a collabo with Colourpop, and made a bright coral-peach colour, I was "heh, why not". She did a good job at modeling it haha. Finally. I found a coral colour that works for me! It is super matte, and can be drying, so make sure you prime your lips. For days I want a more satin look, I just light layer this with a lip balm. This did a great job of not transferring and not smudging, and I don't need to touch-up throughout the day. Unfortunately, I just found out that this collection is no longer available for purchase.
MAC Instacurl mascara
I usually don't splurge on mascara, and am pretty happy with my Maybelline mascaras. I had to do a speech for work, and didn't have time to go home and get ready for it. MAC was able to squeeze me in for an appointment. I received this mascara with my appointment, and the artist that was taking care of me was telling me that this was the newest mascara they released. This mascara has a game-changing wand, that allows you to twist the handle, and it will curve the brush to fit your eye shape. Bomb. The brush and formula do a great job a separating, lengthening, and keeping lashes curled.
